BRACHIOPLASTY

This procedure is done to tighten the loose skin of the upper arm, a.k.a. Batwings.  Excess and loose skin is very common in patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight and in older patients who have lost elasticity in their skin.  Removing the excess skin of the arm is known as Brachioplasty.

The method of surgery is not complicated; the excess skin is marked and then removed.  The incision is placed on the inner surface of the arm.  In some cases, fat is suctioned at the same time.  The operation is performed under general anesthesia and is performed on an outpatient basis.

The recovery period is approximately one to two weeks.  Most people are back to work within one week.

Not everybody with loose skin is a candidate for Brachioplasty.  Some patients benefit solely from liposuction.  Only Dr. Virden will be able to tell you which method is best for you.

If you think that you may be a candidate for Brachioplasty, contact Dr. Virden and his staff  by calling 1-866-344-3363 or click here to schedule a consultation.
