LIP AUGMENTATION

Lip augmentation is a procedure performed to give fullness and projection to thin lips.  Dr. Virden performs lip augmentation using multiple fillers such as Juvederm™ or  Restylane® or Fat Transfer to the lips.  Dr. Virden has had an interest in lip augmentation for many years.  He has performed and tried just about every possible lip procedure, surgery and filler known.

Juvederm™ or Restylane® are made from Hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells.  HA retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight.  This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.  Therefore, it is a great option for plumbing lines and wrinkles and augmenting lips.

Fat Transfer is another quick and efficient way to plumb up lips and give them a full and beautiful result.  The potential to use your own fat is a nice option for those who want to loose some fat in the tummy or hip area and “transplant” the fat to the lips.  The potential beauty of this option is fat can be permanent or last a few years in some patients.  It may take 2-3 sessions because not all fat transferred actually survives.  We may go back and layer the fat in the lips usually 6-12 months later.

All of these procedures are performed in the office.  A dental block or local anesthesia can be given so there is no down time.
